During the week of November 4, 2019, members of the Sweetwater County Combined Communications Center participated in the annual Wyoming APCO/NENA Conference (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials/National Emergency Number Association) in Casper, WY. This conference is hosted by the state chapter of APCO, a national organization that offers public safety communications expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach to benefit members and the public. Training at the conference this year included Dispatch Liability, Crisis Negotiations for Telecommunicators, Lessons Learned- Sandy Hook Elementary School, and “Improving your Emotional Intelligence: The #1 Skill for Comm Center Success.” An awards luncheon was also held, recognizing public safety communications personnel across the state for their hard work.
New board members for the state chapter were also chosen and our very own Communication Officer Valarie Gelinas was nominated for Secretary. Congratulations Val!
